Our wedding video was great to watch after the wedding. If you can afford it is wonderful to be able to look back on the day. It can go by so fast you forget certain parts of the day and it serves as a special reminder of a very happy occasion.

Waking up on the morning of the wedding I had a feeling of ‘it’s finally here’ after all the months of preparation. The week leading up to the wedding we had heavy rain, so we were hoping and praying for sunshine. On the morning our prayers had been answered! We woke up to glorious sunshine which lasted all day. I stayed at my parents’ house the night before the wedding which was lovely to spend time with them and to be in my childhood home.

My bridesmaids arrived at 9am; there was a real buzz at the house; my mum and dad made us all breakfast with the hairdressers and photographer and people coming and going throughout the morning. Mum and dad have a beautiful house and the bridesmaids loved it - they said it helped make the day feel special. I did my own make-up because I am beauty therapy trained and the bridesmaids all did their own make-up too.

We wanted to get married in my local church; my Aunty Bev was married in the same church and I was a bridesmaid to her when I was five years old. I always remembered it as very special day and a beautiful old Norman church. My mum was also christened in this church. The reception was held a mile away at Salford Hall Hotel. It is a stunning old building with beautiful gardens. Our theme was vintage style with a traditional feel. We both love the 1930s style.

I did find my self getting a little nervous, because I don’t like being the centre of attention. However, when my dad walked me down the aisle all our guests looked so happy for me and Ben was smiling at me, so I felt more confident. The ceremony was lovely and very intimate.

Arriving at the venue, we had a band playing in the garden and the guests were given canapes and champagne, before we all went into the marquee to eat our wedding breakfast. The marquee was filled with bunting and old English flowers; it looked amazing. We had some unforgettable speeches - it all went too quickly. The evening had a garden party theme with the band playing outside. I surprised Ben by singing Michael Jacksons song ‘Ben’ to him which bought a few tears to our guests’ eyes.
